From worcesternews.com:
MOVING tributes are being paid to Worcestershire drummer Bev Smith who died earlier this month.
Smith, who died on Wednesday, August 9, aged just 50, was an incredibly experienced and respected musician who had played with the likes of Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Champion Jack Dupree.
In recent years he was drummer for the Wyre Forest-based blues and reggae band Shark Attack but his career went back to 1972, when he first received drum tuition from John Bonham of Led Zepplin. By 1983 Smith was a member of Honeydrippers alongside Robert Plant and in 1987 he joined Stan Webb's Chicken Shack and toured Europe.
Sally Haines, lead singer of Shark Attack, said Smith had given so much to so many people. "He was a great man and a great musician," she said.
"He gave me the best musical experience of my life. He was so full of life and fun, yet sensitive and respectful.
"He will be missed by many people."
A funeral service for Smith was held at St George's Church in Kidderminster earlier this month. To pay tribute to him visit www.sharkattack.tripod.com. _________________ Robert Plant and Chocolate are ALWAYS Appropriate. |
